What is Sound Healing?

Sound healing is a type of vibrational healing that works directly with your cells. It has been used in ancient cultures all around the world, and has a long list of benefits, some of which include stress reduction and relaxation.

think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration."

Healing Sounds

There are many kinds of instruments that are used for sound baths such as singing bowls, flutes, drums, rattles, gongs, tuning forks, chimes, bells, rainsticks, of course the voice, and so much more. A sound bath is when you experience an immersion of healing sounds.

Many Positive Benefits

Here are just some of the benefits of sound healing:

  • Lowers cortisol (stress hormone) and reduces stress. Sound healing can shift our nervous system from the fight or flight response, to rest & digest. Stress is often the root cause of illness.

  • Lowers blood pressure & heart rate

  • Helps to relieve anxiety & depression

  • Boosts immune function

  • Promotes relaxation

  • Supports emotional and mental well-being + harmony

  • With a sound bath, you can still receive many of the same benefits as meditation. Some folks have a hard time meditating, but a sound bath can help give your 'monkey mind' or overthinking mind something to focus on.

  • Relieve physical pain & tension

  • Clear brain fog

  • Feel more connected

So what do you do during a sound bath?

Let yourself relax and enjoy. How often do many of us actually set aside time for relaxation in our culture of go-go-go? Resting and rejuvenation is so important to our health and whole well-being.  You can also set an intention before your sound bath, and come back to it if you feel your mind wander.

It can be helpful to focus on your breath, allowing it to deepen. The sound vibrations move throughout your body on a deep, cellular level and break up stagnation and toxins. Deep, relaxed breathing can help with this clearing and rejuvenation process.

During a sound bath, folks have reported seeing colors in their mind's eye, astral projection (their spirit traveling on a journey, similar to what happens when we are dreaming), receiving intuitive messages or spiritual guidance, feeling more connected with themselves and nature, relieving physical pain, relieving brain fog symptoms, releasing and healing old subconscious material, and so much more.

Where can I experience sound healing?

  • Come to a live sound bath in person! I offer my own version of sound baths for my community. Check out my "Events" tab for more information and upcoming gatherings. I also offer private sound healing sessions for just one, or for groups.

  • Play sound healing instruments for yourself

  • Listen to recorded sound healing music (available on many music streaming platforms)

You can also work with the most healing sound in the world: your own voice!

Even if you don’t consider yourself a singer, you can work with sound vibrations to heal your body by transforming stagnant energy. This is not something you have to share with anyone but yourself, so it does not matter what it sounds like; it is more about how it feels in your body. Think about how it feels, for example, to let out a sound of relief (ahhhh). Sound out the pain in your body. You can make vowel sounds to start. Explore what it feels like to vibrate your voice throughout different parts of your body. Experiment!
